Bethel Cemetery, Union Co., KY
(with photos)

Located on Bethel Church Road, off of Hwy 492. It's a little narrow road, with farmland and houses on either side. As you go around a curve, off to your left, you will see the cemetery. I do not know the history of this cemetery, but can only assume that the church once stood in front of the cemetery. Now it's all grass, well mowed, but if you walk on the grass as you approach the cemetery, you can see bits of gravel underneath, as if a driveway, possibly to the church, once was there. In this cemetery is a Rev. J. B. Haynes and his wife Lucinda, does anyone know if he was maybe the first minister for Bethel Church?

Of the readable stones, the earliest birth on a tombstone is for Martha Omer, wife of Daniel, born Jan. 19, 1796, and died Sept. 17, 1878. The earliest burial on a tombstone is for Joshua Cullen Jan. 23, 1852 - Feb 4, 1852, the next year listed on a readable tombstone is for 1855. The lastest death date on a tombstone is for 1962, however, there is one tombstone there, with no death date on it, but I know the lady died in the late 1980's or early 1990's, however, I do not know her actual date, she was a school teaher.

Names listed here are only for readable tombstones in this cemetery. Please click on the name to view the stone and full dates. Please check under misc or unknown for stones that are unreadable/worn smooth by time, or possible had no name to begin with on them. There are also a few stones where I can not make out the last last name. So if you have an ancestor buried here, and you don't find them listed, check misc or u for unknown too.

If I have made typo with a name or date, please email so that I can get it corrected online. If you have an ancestor whose death certificate says they are buried here, but there is no stone listed for them, please let me know and I can add them to this list. This listing below is ONLY of the current readable tombstones, as of April 15, 2001, and it is possible that I have overlooked a few by accident. I welcome any corrections or additions. Please email me at Maria Troutman
