This is a transcription of the indenture of James Liles to John D. Davis and others. It concerns property sold in Union County Kentucky on July 17, 1822.
This indenture made this 17th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two between James Lisles of the county of Union and State of Kentucky of the one part and John D. Davis, Jeremiah W. Collins, and Asher Cox Trustees of the Little Bethel Church of the Baptists of the county and state aforse of the other part. Witnessith that the said James Lisles for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand the receipt hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and by those present doth grant bargain sell and convey unto the said John D. Davis Jeremiah W. Collins and Asher Cox Trustees as aforesaid and to their survivors a certain tract of land situated in the county of Union on the waters of Cypress Creek and containing one acre and bounded as follows towit. Beginning at two poplars running South 13 East 13 poles to two black gums and white oak thence East 83 West 13 poles to one black oak thence North 13 West 13 poles to two hickories & dogwood thence west 83 north 13 poles to the Beginning together with all and singular the premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the said described premises with its appurtenances unto the said John D. Davis Jeremiah W. Collins & Asher Cox and their successors forever against the claims or claims of him the said James Lisles and his heirs shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents on witness whereof the said James Lisles hath here unto set his hand and fixed his seal the day and year above written.
