Unknown Cemetery, (Waller-Omer Rd) Union Co., KY
(with photos)

This cemetery is located on Waller - Omer Rd. Coming from the Grangertown area, turn onto Waller Omer Road, and right after you cross where the railroad tracks used to be, it is on your right. It is less than a mile down the road. It is hard to see, as it's overgrown somewhat. I'm told that this is a Colored Cemetery and that there are more graves here. I honestly do not know if that is true or not. I could only locate 5 stones with names on them, 2 more areas that were graves, and I saw nothing else. Perhaps in the winter more can be seen?

Names listed here are only for readable tombstones in this cemetery. Please click on the name to view the stone and full dates. If you know the name of this cemetery, please let Maria Troutman know. I welcome any corrections or additions.

  • Luvenia Rudy - She was the wife of Pleas Rudy and lived in Sturgis, Ky. Pleas worked as a brick mason. Per 1920 Census, Luvenia was listed as a housewife. Their daughter, Hattie Early, age 23, was living with them as of 1920. Both Pleas & Luvenia stated they were born in KY, but were unsure of where their parents were born. Their census data was taken on 14 Jan 1920, three days before Luvenia's death on 17 Jan 1920.

Verdie M. Carter - Verdie's father, Nicholas "Nick" Carter was born in WV about 1887, as were both of his parents. Nick was employed as a coal miner in Union County. Her mother, Nenie "Enie" Carter was born in Ky about 1899, as were both of her parents. Verdie had not been born in 1920 (census), but her parents already had four small children ; Beulah (age 6), Lula (age 3), Sylvester (age 2), and Ophelia (age 3 months). The Carter family made their home in Caseyville, Ky.
