Adam Wachter

Versailles--Adam Wachter, 77, a retired carpenter for the Stagg Distillery in Woodford County, died at 5:30 a.m. today at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary Osborne, on Douglas Avenue after a short illness. He was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church.

Other survivors, besides his sister, are two daughters, Mrs. Robert Redmon, Versailles, and Mrs. William Howard, Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, Joseph Wachter, Cynthiana; two other sisters, Mrs. Newt Edwards, Versailles, and Mrs. Will Edwards, Indianapolis; three brothers, Fred and Charlie Wachter, both of Versailles, and Robert Wachter of Lexington, and nine grandchildren.

The body is at the Miller-Blackburn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gilbert Beckley

Versailles--Services for Mrs. Maude Elizabeth Cheek Beckley, 75, wife of Gilbert Beckley, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery. Active bearers will be Donald Wallace, Herbert Bruce, Harry Redmon, V. B. Howard, Wilbur Hill and Joe Adams. Honorary bearers will be deacons of the Versailles Baptist Church and members of the Baracca Sunday School class. The body is at the funeral chapel.

Chester L. Thomas

Chester L. Thomas, 77, died 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the Woodford Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mrs. Gladys Pondexter Thomas and a resident of 362 S. Main Street, Versailles. He was a member of Grafenburgs Christian Church and was a barber for fifty years in Memphis, Tenn., Frankfort and Lexington. He was a former resident and barber of Grafenburg.

Other survivors are five sisters, Mrs. Ester Nichols, Mrs. Essie Moore and Mrs. Katherine Simpson, all of Versailles, Mrs. Verna Mae Shackelford, Salvisa. Mrs. Marie Eaves, Lexington; two brothers, James L. and Everett L., both of Lexington; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Sunday at the Duell Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles, conducted by Rev. Raymond Eyre. Burial in Versailles Cemetery.

Mrs. Edna Stevens

Mrs. Edna Louise Stevens, 87, 119 West Main Street, Midway, died at 7:22 p.m. Saturday at the Woodford Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Brown County, Ohio, and was a member of the Midway Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Lillard (Dick) Ethington, Midway; two granddaughters, Miss Anna Louise Ethington, Midway, and Mrs. Jean Asher, Lexington; one grandson, RIchard Ethington, Versailles, and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Midway Cemetery by the Rev. Sumpter Logan. Bearers were Harold Asher, Johnny WIlson, Charles Nave, Everett Stevens, Robert Stevens, Emmit Tilghman. Miller-Blackburn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Mrs. Mary Hulette

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Campbell Hulette, 68, widow of Polie B. Hulette, a resident of Route 5, Bryant Benson Road, will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodford County.

She died 11:35 p.m. Sunday at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Shelbyville following a long illness.

She was a native of Shelby County, born February 14, 1907, the daughter of the late Virgie Scobee Campbell and Garrett Campbell, and was a member of the North Benson Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Riley, Midway, two step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Brewer, Shelby County, and Mars. Gladys Waits, Franklin County, one brother, Thomas Campbell, Louisville, five sisters, Mrs. Ethel Aldridge, Mrs. Dorothy Wentworth, and Mrs. Eva Smith all of Franklin County, Mrs. Maggie Carter, Louisville, and Mrs. Irene Wooten, Jeffersonville, Ind.


Charles Mitchell

Charles Mitchell, 85, a resident of 823 East Main Street, died at the King's Daughters' Hospital at 2:30 p.m. Thursday following a short illness.

He was a native of Mercer County, born June 2, 1882, the son of the late Mrs. Henrietta Coovert Mitchell and Mr. Manlus T. Mitchell. He had resided here most of his adult life, was a retired restaurant owner and operator, a former Frankfort City Policeman, and had served two terms as City Marshal of Frankfort. He was a member of the Frankfort First Methodist Church, Hiram Lodge No. 4 F&AM, & Frankfort Elks Lodge No 530.

Surviving him are, wife, Mrs. Serena Pearson Mitchell, Frankfort; one sister, Lilly M. Smith, Detroit, Michigan, three grandsons, Mark S. Mitchell, Craig T. Mitchell, and Scott G. Mitchell, all of Frankfort.

Funeral services will be held from the Harrod Bros. Memorial Chapel at 2:20 Saturday with the Rev. James Shepherd, pastor of the Frankfort Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the family lot in the Frankfort Cemetery, Hiram Lodge No. 4 F&AM will have charge of the graveside services.

Active pallbearers will be Goebel Gill, Ernest Braun, Chance Benassi Jr., Fred Gordon, Harold Gantley and R. S. Stokley.

Honorary bearers will be Marion Rider, Forrest Crockett, Thomas Pennie, W. E. Pet Doll, James C. Hulette, and Farnham Dudgeon.

The body is at the Harrod Bros. Memorial Chapel where it will remain throughout the service hour.

Bryant B. Sharfe

Funeral services for Bryant Basil Sharfe, 74, of Chillicothe, Ohio, will be 11 a.m. today at Chillicothe. Sharfe died Sunday after a long illness.

A Frankfort native, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Sharfe; one daughter, Barbara Buskirk, Chillicothe; three brothers, Luther Sharfe, Crothersville, Ind., Herman Sharfe, Louisville and Leon Paige, Frankfort; two sisters, Viola Paige, Frankfort, and Daisy Marston, Louisville.


Mrs. Rosie Bailey

Georgetown--Services for Mrs. Rosie Devers Bailey, 79, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Johnson's Funeral Home, Georgetown, with the Rev. Calvin Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Midway Cemetery. She died 1:45 Tuesday at the John Graves Ford Memorial Hospital. A native of Woodford County, she was a member of the Northside Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Jones, Frankfort; Mrs. Sammy Mitchell, Georgetown; one son, Marion Bailey Jr., Midway; three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Keith, Mrs. Florence Devers and Mrs. Julia Jones, all of Midway; three brothers, Andrew, Goebel, and Willie T. Devers, all of Midway; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bearers will be Jerry Miller, Steve Wilson, Eddie Chesser, Steve Polley, Orlie T. Relly, Lewis Mulberry, Shirley Lucas and Clay McKnight.


Harold W. Shuttleworth

Services for Harold William Shuttleworth, 67, husband of Louise O'Nan Shuttleworth, of 144 Wallace Ave., will be 3:30 p.m. Monday in Rogers Chapel with the Rev. Herman Bowers, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Frankfort Cemetery. He died 4:20 p.m. Friday in the King's Daughters' Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Blue Earth, Minn., he was born March 6, 1909, to the late William and Minnie Roberts Shuttleworth. He was a retired employee of the Frank F. Taylor Company, where he worked six years, retiring in 1974. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during WW II, and was a member of the First Methodist Church in Blue Earth.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise O'Nan Shuttleworth, Frankfort; one son, John William Shuttleworth, Frankfort; nine sisters, Mrs. Maude Stroble, Winnebago, Minn., Mrs. Mildred Loge, Albert Lee, Minn.; Mrs. Doris Altonburg, Owatonna, Minn.; Mrs. Don (Maybell) Andrews, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Carol (Faith) Irvine, Winnebago, Minn.; Mrs. Orpha Irvine, Winnebago, Minn.; Mrs. Lorin (Neva) Armstrong, Deerwood, Minn.; Mrs. Medford (Lois) Anderson, Blue Earth, Minn.; Mrs. Helen Golly, Bloomington, Minn., one brother, Caryle Shuttleworth, Prairie Farm, Wis., and one grandson, John William Shuttleworth, Jr., Frankfort.
