Elmer James Stevens

Elmer James Stevens, 52, of 137 Camden Ave., Versailles, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. He is a native of Woodford County and a retired contractor.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Courtney Stevens, Versailles; his mother, Irene Wiley, and his step-father, Arlester Wiley, both of Frankfort; two daughters, Louann Stevens, Versailles, and Loretta Wilson, Midway; three sons, Donald and Frankie J. Stevens, both of Lexington, and Rickey Stevens, Versailles; one sister, Mrs. Henrietta Morrill, Edinburg, Ill.; one half-sister, Beulah Franks, Frankfort, and eight grandchildren.

Services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Blackburn Funeral Home by the Rev. Ken Moore. Burial was in the Versailles Cemetery. Bearers were George Reeves, Bobby Hartley, Dan Franks, Jackie Cox, Mark Dunn and Jimmy Dunn.

John P. Smith

Services for John P. Smith, 79, of 165 Scruggs Lane, will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home by Rev. Wade Hughes, Rev. David Smith and Rev. Benjamin Dock with burial in the Bethel Cemetery. He died at his home 9:51 p.m. Thursday after a long illness.

A Franklin County native, he retired from the Blanton Stone Company and was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are five sons, Earl, Johnny, Gary and Danny Smith, all of Frankfort, and Darrell S. SMith, Wichita, Kans.; two daughters, Mary Sutherland, Frankfort, and Ruth Rodgers, Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Raymond Smith Sr., Frankfort; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Robert and Tina Johnson Smith, the widower of Dorothy Louise Mitchell and the father of the late Brenda Sue True.
